Infrared heating can help to reduce energy and heating costs because you do not need to heat an entire house to get one room to a comfortable temperature.

If you are using an electric infrared heater, there is no need to wait for heat to build up. Turn your heater on just prior to your heating requirement and you will notice a difference almost immediately.

By using an infrared heater you can direct heat at specific areas instead of heating an entire room, or your entire home. This is possible because infrared heat is directed at the floor, or objects surrounding it, including people.

Indoor air circulates from the rear of the Portable Furnace™ heater, passes through a highly efficient air filter, and enters a chamber with infrared quartz bulbs. Finally, the heater discharges heated air from the diathermanous copper plate constructed on the front of the unit.

Infrared heat, also known as infrared energy travels at the speed of light without heating the air it passes through, and gets absorbed or reflected by objects it strikes. Any object with a surface temperature above absolute zero, which is approximately -460°F (-273°C) will emit infrared some sort of infrared heat or energy. The amount of infrared energy an object gives off is based on its specific properties, and will also increase as the temperature of the product rises above absolute zero.

Traditional heating methods cause the air to be heated and circulated around your home. By doing this the warmest air rises to the highest point in your home, leaving cooler air near ground level. Your home will still feel cool and the heat will need to be turned up, which may result in a higher heating and energy bill.

There is very little maintenance when it comes to infrared heaters. They do not have many moving parts, and periodically the reflectors will need to be cleaned.

Electric infrared, like other forms of electric heating, is the cleanest method of heating. There are no by-products of combustion as with fossil fuel burning units. Electric infrared adds nothing to the air nor takes anything from it. Infrared heating is also one of the safest methods of heating as there is no open flame, no moving parts that could malfunction, no fuel lines that could leak and no toxic by-products of combustion.
